Jack Schlaefle

Memorial services for Jack A. Schlaefle, Jr., 23, of 2863 N. Mountain Rd., Boise, who died on Monday April 16, 1984, in Israel, will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, at Boise Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship, 5008 Pierce Park Lane.  The Rev. Armida Alexander will officiate.  

Mr. Schlaefle was born on May 3, 1960, at Denver, Colorado.  He lived at Arvada, Colorado until 1971 when he moved with his family to Boise.  He attended Mountain View Elementary School, Fairmont Junior High and Boise High School where he graduated in 1978.  While in high school he was a member of the National Honor Society and the Boise High Varsity Basketball Team where he was elected most valuable player and co-captain by his teammates.  He attended Boy's State in 1977 and was offered academic scholarships to Lewis and Clark College in Washington and Fort Lewis College at Durango, Colorado.  He attended Fort Lewis College, Idaho State University and graduated from the University of North Colorado at Greely in 1983 with a B. A. degree in education.  While in attendance at UNC he was a member of Pi Lambda Theta, an honorary education fraternity.

He is survived by his parents, Jack A., Sr., and Elizabeth of Boise; a sister, Anne of Denver; his paternal grandmother, Paula Hinkle of Livermore, California; an aunt and uncle, Bob and Imogene Hill of Livermore, and two cousins, Doni Hill of Livermore and Gail Soito of Boise.  The family suggests that memorials be made to the Jack A. Schlaefle Academic Memorial Fund, c/o Boise High School.
