Darla Larsen

Darla Faye Larsen, dearly loved by her family and friends, died April 25, 2017 at her home in Boise after a long illness. She was born in Boise in 1960 to Dorrell and Dona Faye Larsen. She attended Boise schools, graduating from Boise High School and Brigham Young University and receiving her Master's Degree from the University of Idaho in School Psychology. After finishing her schooling, she traveled extensively, spending considerable time in Europe, Florida, Maryland, California and, of course, McCall. Darla had a special gift of understanding and inspiring young people and spent her formal career working as a counselor in the Nampa and Meridian School Districts. She became a strong advocate for students, devoting herself to ensuring students' educational needs were addressed and helping them believe in themselves and reach for their own stars.

Darla was fiercely intelligent as well as beautiful and elegant. She possessed a great wit and a delightful sense of humor and fun. She was beloved by her parents and cherished by her nine brothers and sisters and their spouses. She also was adored by her nieces and nephews with whom she formed close and special bonds. She made many dear friends and was admired for her optimism, strength and generosity.

Darla was predeceased by her parents and is survived by her brothers and sisters: Melodie, Cindy, Debra, Kim, Jay, Laura, Mark, Michael and Holly. She is also survived by sisters- in-law Susan, Angela, Suzzie and Jennifer; brothers-in-law Mark, David and Mike; and by 31 nieces and nephews. Darla's family wishes to thank all of the medical staff who helped her for their caring assistance and many kindnesses. A celebration of Darla's life will be held in Boise. Her family also will gather in McCall this summer in remembrance of a very special daughter, sister and aunt.
